Seven dancers will perform together in a series of vignettes centered around the theme of “A Drop in the Ocean.” Each “drop” represents a person’s unique gift in this life, and when they come together, we create an ocean of community. Dancers will hold glowing blue orbs representing their drop of water/unique gift. The audience will follow a drop of water as it moves through the event space from one vignette to the next. The performance starts with a high-energy dance piece focused on introducing the idea of the drops of water. Then dancers will travel to a new space and two men will perform a gentle duet about partnership and support. After that, dancers will improvise movement and its effect on an art piece. Finally, dancers will perform an ending piece that ties all of it together and culminates in a mindfulness exercise for audience participation.

Rosy Mack is the artistic director of Ignite Collaborative, a local female-run 501(c)(3) with the mission to build a more connected and compassionate community through movement. Ignite performs for diverse audiences in unique venues year-round, from public events like Phoenix Pride Festival to art galleries like Alwun House to large-scale productions at Tempe Center for the Arts. Ignite Collaborative believes that melding a variety of art forms into their performance helps to connect with a public audience who might not always understand the abstract nature of dance. They always create their work with this in mind, striving for a strong balance between a captivating narrative, visually stunning props and costumes, and integrity as artists with strong technical ability. When not directing Ignite, Mack performs around Arizona with other companies—most notably Center Dance Ensemble and Elevate DanceWorks—and she runs an in-school outreach program called Jubilee Mindful Movement, focused on helping students in detention and special needs populations to build compassion, develop critical thinking skills, and manage self-control.
