Earthly is a great blue heron made of both organic and inorganic materials. She embodies the spirit of water and the flora and fauna that rely on her for sustenance. She can be seen in the night, glowing like starlight, near any body of water where she chooses to take rest. Watch for her nightly around the Arizona Canal during Canal Convergence.
Biography
Katharine Leigh Simpson a multidisciplinary artist based in Mesa. She creates works of fine art, performance, and installation art. Her art practice is one that resonates with ideas of energy flow and reincarnation. She combines organic materials found in nature with paper and other recycled nontraditional and traditional fine art mediums, resulting in sculptural translations of their raw energy. She has created both installations and performances for the Herberger Theater and is currently developing an installation for the City of Mesa and its Water= Life project.
