Rashaad Thomas is a husband, father, U.S. Air Force veteran, activist, VONA/Voices of Our Nation Art Foundation alumnus, essayist, and poet. He is an Arizona Mirror commentary and Zócalo Public Square contributor and an associate editor of The Revolution (Relaunch). His work can be found in the documentary Racist, Sexist Bigot; the book Trayvon Martin, Race, and American Justice: Writing Wrong; The Columbia Review, Hayden Ferry Review, and others. He received the 2016 Phoenix Mayor’s Art Awards for Language Arts. Thomas was a 2017 MacDowell Colony Fellow and was awarded the Helen Plummer Fellow for MacDowell Colony of 2017. He was named Best Poet in the Phoenix New Times‘ Best of Phoenix 2019.
