About the Event
This workshop is all about creating and letting the flowers do the dancing. Think of lots of movement! Participants will create a floral arrangement with a reusable mason jar to take home or gift to a friend or partner. Marin Kees, owner of Florence & Rose Floral Co., will lead participants in pattern techniques while arranging and noting color theory and how to arrange with no mechanics. She will also share tips and tricks on how to make flowers last longer. It’s a fun way to learn about various flower types, how to arrange and make your flowers dance and have movement, and ultimately understand the importance of local flowers.
Biography
Marin Kees is the owner of Florence & Rose Floral Co. She started as a florist almost seven years ago and, after falling in love with the profession, she decided to embark on her own business in Gilbert, Arizona, in July 2022. Flowers have always been a part of Kees’s life her mother and grandmother were both florists. Being a third-generation florist, Kees takes pride in her work, specializing in design and paying attention to detail. As a floral artist, she steps out of tradition and gives clients a different outlook on design. She offers everyday arrangements, subscriptions, weddings, events, and workshops. Kees got into the industry and started her business mainly to source local flowers from local growers right here in the Valley and to be a sustainable florist. Kees is now even growing her own flowers, which has long been a dream of hers. She finds great reward in harvesting and offering organic flowers right from her garden to your table. But, as with everything in life, things change, and so do seasons, meaning not every arrangement can be made with local flowers. However, striving to use local flowers as much as possible is what Kees aim for. She has also started teaching design classes to clients around the Valley, emphasizing the importance of locally grown blooms. She has found a new passion in teaching and hopes to bring this new topic of interest to people when they look to buy flowers, encouraging them to support their local growers.
