The recycled textiles workshop will explore plastic fusing to create a textile. Drop in participants can utilize an array of plastic bags, irons, wax paper, and scissors to fuse their own textile that can be used to create a small bag, ornamental flower, or an invention of your choice!

Drop in participants can utilize an array of plastic bags, irons, wax paper, and scissors to fuse their own textile that can be used to create a small bag, ornamental flower, or an invention of your choice! The visiting artist, Anya Melkozernova, will lead you through this fun and simple process and provide examples of completed projects for inspiration. 

Biographies

Anya Melkozernova is a Russian born fiber artist, painter, fashion and costume designer. In 2011, Melkozernova received her bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in fiber arts. After graduating she worked for many local start-up businesses while developing her skills in her own studio space and building a small online business. Melkozernova expresses nuanced emotional and spiritual states through her current chosen medium. Today, she shares her time between teaching at Arizona State University, working as a freelance seamstress in the film industry, and creating new projects in her home studio.
