Puppet Pie

Puppet Pie will serve up lots of fun from their whimsical puppet ice cream truck, Puppet Pie á la Mobile. Stop by the truck for a frozen treat or a silly joke served up by The Popsicle Fairy, and then stay to learn how to make your very own paper puppet. The paper puppet project is great for adults and kids, ages 6 and older, who have a dedicated, grown-up helper.

About the Artist

Stacey Gordon is the creator behind Puppet Pie, a puppetry arts studio in the heart of Phoenix. Since 2016, Gordon has had the honor of performing as one of Sesame Street’s newest friends, Julia. In addition to her work on Sesame Street, she teaches puppetry to diverse audiences at conventions, festivals, libraries, and schools around the country. Puppet Pie’s mission is to use puppetry to empower people of all ages to explore the world around them through the lens of creativity. You can occasionally find Gordon driving around Phoenix in her puppet ice cream truck, Puppet Pie á la Mobile.

Container Paintings

The Container Painting Project is back! In partnership with Scottsdale Solid Waste Management, artist Blaise Danio is leading a collaborative painting effort to design containers that showcase our community. Debuting at Canal Convergence, these containers will be placed throughout Scottsdale, but this is your chance to see them before they are out in the community. Free workshops to help with the collaborative painting of the containers are available to Canal Convergence attendees on Saturdays and Sundays with RSVP.

About the Artist

Buhlaixe Studio is a multidisciplinary design studio and brand. It is the creative brainchild of Blaise Danio, an established artist and designer, fueled by her passion for decorative arts, functional fine art, and travel. She has spent years working in the arts in New York City, facilitating behind-the-scenes art installation with MOMA PS1, Sotheby’s, and The Public Theater and prop styling for Real Simple magazine. She has studied under internationally acclaimed artist Michele Oka Doner.

Classically trained in the fine arts and self-taught as a graphic designer, Danio works with high-profile clients on custom designs and public mural work. Buhlaixe Studio is carried in more than 100 retail stores internationally. Danio is currently a spotlight artist with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. Her work is frequently featured on Design Milk and in the New York Times Wirecutter edition.
