About the Event

Explore the whimsical world of silk painting! In this workshop you’ll learn various painting techniques including hand painting and water-based resist to create an original work of art that is yours to keep. Visiting artist Anya Melkozernova will provide a step-by-step tutorial with examples of silk paintings and guidance for questions throughout the process. All levels are welcome! No prior experience is necessary. Participants will be provided with all materials needed to create their own silk painting. Just bring your imagination!

Biography

Anya Melkozernova is a Russian born fiber artist, painter, fashion and costume designer. In 2011, Melkozernova received her bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in fiber arts. After graduating she worked for many local start-up businesses while developing her skills in her own studio space and building a small online business. Melkozernova expresses nuanced emotional and spiritual states through her current chosen medium. Today, she shares her time between teaching at Arizona State University, working as a freelance seamstress in the film industry, and creating new projects in her home studio.
