About the Event

Surfing Godzillas, formerly known as the Showa Seven, formed more than 10 years ago to play the Arizona Matsuri, a yearly Japanese festival highlighting Japanese food and culture.โ€ฏTheir songs are generally from the late 1960s, when drummer Tami (Tommy) Wollaston was growing up in Japan and playing popular music of the time in his high school band.โ€ฏSurfing Godzillasโ€ฏis an oyaji band, playingโ€ฏretro Japanese rockโ€”kayล popโ€”of the mid- to late Showa era, 1960โ€“1980. Surfing Godzillas now consists of Tami Wollaston on drums and vocals, Preston Wollaston on vocals and guitar, Yvonne Brook on keyboards, Zach Vogt on bass, and Adam McGuire on guitar.
