Big Art

The ARRAY

Calgary, Canada

On view Nov. 8–17

The ARRAY challenges the notion of introspective moments in front of a mirror by going beyond reflection of the “self” with the integration of more than 100 clips of engaging video content. Each of the fourteen 6-foot by 4-foot mirrored structures spark curiosity, reflecting the world as expected. When approached, the mirrors “power up” to reveal a tangible yet imagined world behind the mirror. As the viewer’s reflection dissipates, randomized video clips displaying a wide variety of inspiring and creative content appear before the viewer. Each guest enjoys a unique experience with the interactive mirrors.

The ARRAY was originally commissioned as an interactive, multidisciplinary, immersive art installation, designed to demonstrate a simple, but effective, solar system in a dazzling display of video and light. For Canal Convergence, The ARRAY has been transformed into a new format. It is still capable of this original purpose, but, in its newest transformation/iteration, the entire installation can be customized to the unique arrangement of pathways and landscaping at the Scottsdale Waterfront, delivering a unique, magical, malleable, experience.
