Aquarius: The Water Bearer
Scottsdale Arts Learning & Innovation facilitated a collaborative project between artist Elana Novali, of the Arizona-based Cosanti Foundation, and teens from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale to create a sculptural installation that will be on display throughout Canal Convergence. Members of the Boys & Girls Clubs participated in a five-day workshop that included an immersive learning experience focused on sustainability and water conservation. Meeting at local Boys & Girls Clubs facilities and at Cosanti in Paradise Valley, the teens used upcycled materials to co-create a collaborative sculpture addressing issues surrounding responsible water use. Through the creative process, they gained skills in ceramics, metalworking, and aluminum casting.
